Sephiny Smart, founder and Director of Programmes of SmartSistas Foundation, believes that true leaders are “first, passionate about humanity.”
Working with SmartSistas Foundation (SSF), Smart supports adolescent girls in building life tools, focussing on Mentorship, Communication, Public Speaking and Leadership.
Through a Direct Link Donor programme, SSF connects young girls to educational sponsorship. The Foundation also empowers widows through various skills acquisition training, starting them on small-scale businesses and providing basic amenities for them and their dependents.
Sephiny Smart is a 2016 RLC YALI Fellow, a 2017 Mandela Washington Fellow, and the Country Representative for Young Business and Professional Women, an organization with the mandate to helping women achieve economic independence and assume their rightful position in business, the work place, and all decision making levels through education, advocacy, mentoring, networking, skill building and the provision of opportunities around the world.
She is currently a Cherie Blair Foundation Mentee.
To mark 16 Days of Activism, I am honouring 16 Remarkable Women who painstakingly work to educate on gender inequality, human rights and putting an end to violence against women and girls.
